Captain Scott Shackleton

Captain Scott Shackleton speaking

About Scott

Captain Scott Shackleton is a distant relative of Sir Ernest Shackleton, the legendary explorer whose ship, The Endurance, was discovered 107 years after it was crushed by sea ice and sank in the Antarctic. Under the leadership of Sir Ernest, the entire crew survived, having escaped on foot and in lifeboats.

Scott Shackleton has been following the two recent attempts to locate the shipwreck. That effort was documented in an episode of History’s Greatest Mysteries: Endurance – The Hunt for Shackleton’s Ice Ship.

“Finding Endurance is just an amazing feat. It’s like the Holy Grail. They found the one thing that everyone associates with Antarctic exploration. Because the entire crew escaped before the ship sank, the Endurance became a symbol of great leadership and survival in the face of hardship. For me, personally, it is an exciting moment because of the ability to get some closure on this amazing part of my family’s history.”
